SUMMARY:Part 1-STI and BBV Nursing: An Introduction
DESCRIPTION:Nurses and midwives play a crucial role in the prevention of blood borne viruses (BBVs) and sexually transmissible infections (STIs). \n\nNurses and midwives can draw on invaluable communication skills and are well placed to identify priority populations for screening. Through a case study\, presentations\, interactive quizzes and online learning module\, this two-part online workshop will provide nurses and midwives with the introductory skills to incorporate STI and BBV screening within their workplace.\n\n\n\nEvent Description \nThis course will be presented in two 1.5 hour Webinars via Zoom.\nPart 1: Tuesday 15 February 2022\, 7:00-8:30pm (AEDT)\nPart 2: Tuesday 22 February 2022\, 7:00-8:30pm (AEDT)\n\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nDescribe the clinical presentation of common STIs and BBVs\nIdentify the priority populations for STI and BBV\nExplain the importance of testing and screening for STIs and BBVs\nDemonstrate confidence in offering STI and BBV screening to patients\niscuss the process for contact tracing and Identify resources to assistTarget AudienceNurses\, midwives\, and sexual health workers.\nCost- This course is free \nFunding- This course is funded by the Department of Health \nConditions of Registration: \nRegistration Cancellations \nRegistration cancellations and amendments must be notified in writing to ASHM. Cancellations received before February 15 will not incur a cancellation fee. Cancellations received in writing after February 15 2022 will incur a $70 per day cancellation fee. This fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of ASHM. \nSubstitutions \nAs an alternative to cancellation\, your registration may be transferred to another person without incurring any penalty. ASHM must be advised of the transfer in writing.
