DESCRIPTION:Dear Sara\, \n  \nACHSM WA invite you to register for this online live webcast event. Hear from Prof Daniel Galvao as he discusses the role of exercise in improving cancer outcomes across the cancer trajectory and the research evidence for specific exercise programs in collaboration with oncologists. \n  \nProf Rob Newton will discuss exercise clinical services and their extension using telehealth. \n  \nAbout the speakers: Professor Daniel Galvão is Director of the Exercise Medicine Research Institute at Edith Cowan University\, Australia\, and Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and Exercise and Sports Science Australia. Galvão’s research program developed and tested targeted exercise interventions to reverse treatment-related toxicities and improve patient outcomes that have changed the clinical management of cancer patients worldwide. Full bio \nProfessor Robert Newton is Professor of Exercise Medicine in the Exercise Medicine Research Institute that he established (2004) at Edith Cowan University\, Perth\, Western Australia.  Current major research directions include: exercise medicine as neoadjuvant\, adjuvant and rehabilitative cancer therapy to reduce side-effects and enhance effectiveness of surgery\, chemotherapy and radiation therapy; the influence of targeted exercise medicine on tumour biology and exercise medicine for reducing decline in quality of life\, strength\, body composition and functional ability in cancer patients.
